Riders Speed

Riders Speed

Riders is your first step into speed training. The program includes a heavy focus on rider improvement so athletes have proper balance, speed and board control. Training in stubbie set race courses will be included in four training sessions over the season.  Park etiquette is a part of the program so all riders are exposed to jump and box skills to make sure they are well rounded riders and safe in terrain parks.

GOALS FOR RIDERS IN THE PROGRAMS

The Novice Speed Rider

A novice speed rider in the program should have strong riding skills before entering the program and should be able to ride blue runs and the chair lifts at Beaver comfortably. These riding skills are needed so the athlete understands proper balanced position and can handle the speed necessary to ride fun courses and use small terrain features. A basic level of switch riding is also a benefit to encourage well rounded riding. By the end of a season a new speed rider will have learned to carve basic turns on blue terrain, rider entry level race courses and be comfortable in the cross track. Stepper terrain will also be brought into the program to develop both edge and pressure control skills. In the park riders will learn straight airs, basic spins and box tricks.
