





















The ESPN X Games, the world’s biggest ski and snowboard tv event wrapped up in Aspen last weekend with the sensational emergence of 17 year old Canadian Mark McMorris as snow sports newest superstar, garnering feature coverage on CBC TV’s The National, the Globe & Mail and SnowboardCanada.com.
McMorris scored double X Games gold winning both Snowboard Slopestyle and Snowboard Big Air. Snowboard Slopestyle and Ski Slopestyle will debut as medal events at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia!
McMorris’ X Games win coupled with his number 1 rank on the TTR (Ticket To Ride) World Tour, the leading global snowboard series, makes him a 2014 Olympic medal favourite in Slopestyle. Joining McMorris as an Olympic medal fav is fellow Canadian Kaya Turski who won her 3rd consecutive X Games Women’s Ski Slopestyle gold in Aspen.
Canadians also took gold in Women’s Ski Halfpipe (Roz Groenewoud); gold in Women’s Snowboard Cross (Dominique Maltais); and gold in Men’s Ski Cross (Chris Del Bosco); and podiumed in Snowboard Big Air (Seb Toutant – bronze); Men’s Ski Halfpipe (Noah Bowman – silver); and Women’s Snowboard Cross (Maille Ricker – Bronze) — making Canada the top placing country overall!
The 2012 ESPN X Games was broadcast live in 192 countries reaching over 230 million homes — the biggest tv audience for skiing and snowboarding outside of the Olympics.
This weekend you can watch Beaver Valley’s top up-and-coming snowboarders compete in the Beaver Valley PARK BRAWL Slopestyle on Saturday in the big park and in the Groms Park Series Slopestyle on Sunday in the smaller progression park.
